Gresham Jazz with Tom Grant
Tapping in to Gresham?s long history with jazz, a new jazz series is coming to Historic Downtown Gresham. Jazz with Tom Grant will kick off the series on October 11, 2018, at the SALT Academy building, 333 N. Main Avenue. Center for the Arts Foundation and the Gresham Historical Society are excited to bring jazz evenings back to Gresham in a fall-spring schedule. Well-known and beloved jazz musicians Tom Grant and Ron Steen, accompanied by bass player, Kevin Deitz and guest vocalist, Danielle Barker, will entertain in a concert-style performance. Doors open at 6:30 pm with music at 7:15 pm. Jazz music continues to be as popular as ever at Mt. Hood Community College with jazz instructor Dan Davey, and strong programs throughout local middle and high schools. The Gresham/Mt.Hood Jazz Association is collaborating as well with the College in plans for a nationally-known jazz artist concert in Spring 2019. October 11th?s evening will include no-host beverages and canapes during a pre-concert social time at 6:30 pm. Tickets $45 advance sale and $50 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at the Foundation website: www.greshamcenterforthearts.org., or at the Gresham History Museum for cash or check purchase, 410 N. We are looking for 15 contestants from 6 to 12 years old to tell us their best jokes for 2 min. Each participant will be awarded a copy of Crack Yourself Up Jokes for Kids, with the grand prize winner receiving a $20 gift certificate from Maggie Mae's Kids Bookshop. This family-friendly event is FREE and filled with fun activities: 10:00 am - Giant pumpkin carving by master pumpkin carvers begins 12:00 pm - Registration opens for costume contest 1:00 pm - Costume contest begins 2:30 pm - Costume contest winners announced 3:00 pm - Free showing of Hocus Pocus COSTUME CONTEST: You're invited to our Halloween costume contest to win one of three great prizes! Judging will be based on creativity, originality, and detail.
