SUMMARY:Texas Hold 'Em Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Gresham Historical Society presents Sawmills and the Early Logging Industry in Gresham\n\n\n\nThis free lecture will provide an overview of the lumber industry in early Gresham. Pioneers arriving in Powell's Valley found a rolling landscape covered in old-growth Douglas firs: beautiful\, but unfit for farming. Logging was a lucrative way to clear the land for agriculture\, and lumber mills dotted the landscape long before the first grain silo peeked over the treetops. Learn all about pioneer logging operations and the culture surrounding them. This presentation is part of our bi-weekly Friday Lecture Series\, a free recurring event for museum staff to present their research on little-known topics in Gresham's history.\n\n\n\nGresham History Museum\n\n410 N Main Avenue\, Gresham\n\n*Parking is available in the 4th Street lot behind our building
